A hand-crafted besom altar broom; lovingly made with materials from nature for all your ritual needs. Use this two-toned broom to sweep away negativity, then hang it up for protection in your home or sacred space. Made from broom corn, grown specifically for constructing besoms, the handles are made of unvarnished pine wood with a cord threaded through the end for ease of hanging. Please allow for variations, as each one of these fabulous altar brooms are unique. These altar brooms measure approximately 21" in length. The besom's components are of both masculine and feminine orientation. The handle, a stave, is masculine in nature while the the bristles are feminine. The besom is an important part of handfasting ceremonies in some traditions. The couple jumps over the besom during the ceremony as a fertility rite. Uses include: symbolic and physical cleansing, sweeping away negative vibrations, expelling evil spirits, defining boundaries, aspurging and purification. Brooms should always be looked after to keep from losing good fortune.
