Handcrafted besom lovingly made with materials from Nature. Use to sweep away negativity and hang for protection in your home or sacred space. Made from broom corn, grown specifically for constructing besoms. Handles are made from pine wood & varnished for protection, with a leather thong threaded through the end for hanging. Please allow for variations, each one is unique.

The besom's components are of both masculine and feminine orientation. The handle, a stave, is masculine in nature while the the bristles are feminine. The besom is an important part of handfasting ceremonies in some traditions. The couple jumps over the besom during the ceremony as a fertility rite.

Uses include: symbolic and physical cleansing, sweeping away negative vibrations, expelling evil spirits, defining boundaries, aspurging and purification. Brooms should always be looked after to keep from losing good fortune. It is traditional to keep a broom either by or above the front door, to protect hearth and home from negative energy The broom is sacrd to the Goddess Hecate, it's element is Water.
